Storytellers club is a unique opportunity for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at Fruit Valley elementary school to expand their public reading and speaking skills. Students who join will read stories to the kindergarten through second grade students. At first we will just read but later you will use props like puppets, or hats and clothing, to bring more life to the stories. In the final stages we will be telling stories in the oral tradition of Master Storytellers.

We will touch on the Common Core Standards such as in 3rd grade, RL. 3.9, “Compare and contrast themes, settings, and plots of written stories”. For 4th and 5th grades an example would be, RF 4.4b, and RF 5.4,  “Read on level prose and poetry orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression on successive readings”.

I will be posting sign-ups in the library and talking during each classes lessons next week. Meetings will be during lunch recess starting  Wednesday, October 25th.
